After being involved in a vehicular accident, a great deal of time will be devoted to address the issues of your car insurance especially when your car is totalled. You only got two scenarios to deal with with your car insurance company being pro-active or your auto insurance firm trying to fight with you about the claims. Whatever happens you need to deal with the following:
Make sure you monitor what is happening with all the paper works and communication with the other party involved in the accident and your car insurance company. Try to keep a record of phone calls made and also print a copy of any email or communication from the car insurance company.
There will be several legal issues you need to attend to when your car is totaled especially if the accident is your fault. You may also be liable for medical expenses of other people who may be involved and possibly damages to other properties. Even if you have a good car insurance, you may still need to ask your lawyer to help you with everything.
Increase in rates
Expect your car insurance premium to increase when you have totaled your vehicle. After a big accident, you are seen by the insurer as someone who will be a bigger risk. You cannot get away with the higher premiums even when you go to another car insurance company, you will still pay more. Take note too that you will be required to disclose the details of the road mishap to future insurance provider.

One helpful tip for those who already own a car insurance, plan to buy auto insurance, or is looking for an affordable insurance premium is to maintain a good and clean credit report. Remember that every missed payment of your bills reflect in your credit history and affects your credit score.
When you apply for any loan to use for a car or a house, or even when you seek employment, your credit report will be put into consideration. This is also true when you are getting a car insurance. Car insurance companies may opt to inspect ones credit history. You will not have a problem if you have a good credit history but when it has a lot of holes then you can expect a higher monthly premium that you need to pay the car insurance company.

Did you know that, just in the United States, there are more than twenty five hundred auto insurance companies? I know, right? Paperless companies and reputable companies and fly by night companies with amazing deals that can’t possibly really exist…
How in the world can you possibly choose the right car insurance provider?
Well, for starters, you cannot get taken in by all those ads. Just because a certain company puts up a huge billboard telling you to go with them does not mean it is a great idea.
You need to delve past the marketing gimmicks, try to get past all of that hype to the real deal.
When you are looking for a car insurance company, compare their ratings, compare what they offer you specifically.

You know, car insurance is a pretty funny thing. Well, what I mean is, the things that can affect your car insurance are pretty funny — and some of them are a little ironic.
Take age, for instance. Most of us know that before you are twenty five, you’re better off walking. Yet drivers who range between 50 and 65 are considered the safest, they have the safest records. Huh? Is it because so many of them drive 10 miles per hour? I get that a lot of younger drivers are speed freaks (I mean they like to go fast, people), but their reflexes are also the sharpest. So, well, okay, what do I know?
Married people pay less for insurance. Why? Are they considered more responsible? But what if you’re under 25 and married?
Your occupation could cost you more. Your car insurance agent probably pays less for premiums than you do — because he sits behind a desk and charges other people out the nose for car insurance.

Canceling your car insurance is something that can be uncomfortable and time consuming … if you let it. There are many ways that you can avoid the uncomfortableness of it as well as the time consuming portion and that is what we are going to talk about in this blog.
One of the first things that you want to do is make sure that you contact your current insurance provider. Why are you cancelling your car insurance? Do you need a lower premium? Can not make the payments? These are all things that you need to discuss with your insurance agent, that way you can figure out exactly what the best option for you.
Next, read your policy over – see what you have versus what you might be looking for, you might be surprised.

In this day and age, it seems that cell phones are constantly attached to our hands. Whether you are on the cell phone or you are texting to someone, somehow, you are using your cell phone. Did you know that when you text and drive, you are putting not just yourself at risk but also anyone else you might have in the car?
Let’s say that you are texting and you get into a car crash, this in turn is going to make your car insurance go up because you are distracted while you were driving and it would be your fault.
The moral of the story is that if you want to keep your premiums where they are right now … just leave your cell phone in the cup holder until you can pull over to use it.
